Highland Spring Group Move Forward With Rail Freight Facility in Blackford

Highland Spring Group is delighted to confirm that Perth and Kinross Council approved our recent application for minor amendments to the previously consented scheme for the rail freight facility in Blackford.

The revised consent results in significant benefits to the operational functionality of the site, and crucially, also provides benefits to the local community in Blackford.

The key change relates to the way the train will enter and leave the facility. A new western access means the level crossing will no longer need to close when the train arrives and departs the facility.

Highland Spring is committed to being a good neighbour and has sensitively designed the facility to minimise the noise and visual impact on the community.

The new access provides noise and air quality improvements, compared to the previously consented scheme.

Highland Spring Group have optimised the design to remove a further two HGVs from travelling through the village. The size of each train will now be equivalent to 22 HGV’s.

The freight facility will enable the business to transport goods in an environmentally sustainable way, reduce our carbon footprint and remove approximately 40% of HGV movements from the village.
